Fetish FAQ
What
is a fetish. Ever hear that this guy has a foot fetish or why is that
guy fondling that girls shoes? Ever wonder just what makes a fetish a
fetish? Here are some frequently asked questions on sexual fetishes.
Generally, what is a fetish?
A fetish is "something"
that provides uncontrollable sexual arousal. I provides so much sexual
arousal that it interfere in a persons life. It's all they can think about,
day in and day out and there is no other way for the person to achieve
orgasm. It's a problem when the only way one can get off is by thinking
about their object of desire. It's a fetish when it affects your job,
relationship and/or is against the law.
Where does the term come
from?
Fetish
is from the Portuguese word feitico which means false power, object or
charm.
Is that "something"
an object or human?
Technically, it's a non living
object that provides this compulsion. "Human" parts such as
breasts, butts, the foot, hair are not really fetishes but are sometimes
called "animate" fetishes.
What are some more popular
fetishes?
Popular fetishes both objects
and animate are: feet, hands, fingernails, clothing made of leather, rubber
vinyl or latex. flat, firm stomachs, body piercing, exhibitionism, domination,
submission lipstick, hair (braids, ponytails, pigtails), water, golden
showers, voyeurism.
Is there treatment?
Many times there is no treatment
for sexual fetishes. The person has spent so much time obsessing over
an object that they do not want to give it up. A doctor may try getting
the person to accept other options to to improve their sex life but the
main fetish is still the most powerful fantasy. The doctor may try other
options depending on what he feels is the actual cause of the persons
fetish. Some try shock treatments or antidepressants in their treatments.
Most people will improve their sex lives with sex therapy but will not
totally lose their desire for the fetish object.
What about a foot fetish?
Foot fetish is probably the
one you hear the most about. An obsession with the feet is not really
considered a fetish because a foot is not an object. However, most times
the obsession is not really with the feet but with shoes. A foot attraction
may not be harmful to a person or relationship as the foot is just another
part of the person as boobs, butt, penis, etc. When the obsession turns
to shoes, well, that's another story.
Do women have fetishes?
Fetish over inanimate objects
is solely a man thing. Women don't have these type of fetishes. No one
seems to know why yet. Some guesses might be testosterone levels, undeveloped
social skills, trouble connecting in a relationships, genetic make up,
bad childhood experience.
